Black Spoon Rest / Soap Dish

Elevate your kitchen counter with a glossy black spoon rest or use them by your sink as a soap dish. If used as a soap dish, the raised center allows excess liquid to drain into the edges of the dish and flow out of the lip. I like to place them at the edge of the sink so that water can drain directly into the sink.

 

Every piece is handmade by me in Portland, Oregon, using stoneware clay. I throw them on a potter’s wheel, bisque fired, glazed by hand, and returned to the kiln one more time for the glaze firing. 

 

This ceramic is food safe, dishwasher safe, and microwave safe. That said, the best way to care for your handmade ceramics is to hand wash them.

 

​All ceramics are sensitive to extreme temperature changes. Please avoid thermally shocking your piece by allowing gradual changes between hot and cold. 

 

As a handmade piece, there will be variation between each pot - even those in a set. The glaze (especially the flux glazes) never fire exactly the same way twice. The individuality of each piece is part of what makes them special.
